That one spot we all go to

Being so north it's quite cold here in the winter. However the summers still exist, just not like the ones you see in the movies in Florida or California. Chicago also doesn't have the huge beaches like the cost, at least where we are, the only "beach" is a cement walkway that cuts off to rocks that have been washed up by faint lake current when it's not iced over. There's one section that has big enough rocks, or bolder I guess you can call them, that are the perfect distance apart to just be able to jump across them (just make sure it's not too icy) to a huge bolder you can fit about 4-5 people on. We often meet up there if anything is bothering us. The faint lake current makes just enough sound to be soothing and on the hot sunny days there's a perfect cool breeze coming off Canada. On the other hand, in the winter not many people will try to bother you when your that far out. More then that, when you look out into the horizon, sometimes all your worries just fade away due to the vast nothingness, no matter what the season.

  1. That idea of vast nothingness makes this whole piece really sad and desolate.
